According to Janet Slusher Keith in her book 250 Years In The Blue Ridge, both Christopher and "his brother John took land near Christiansburg. Both of them fought in the war and may have decided to make the long journey south because they were offered land grants in payment for their services."
She went on to report that "John's descendants in the Christiansburg-Blacksburg-Radford community use the surname "Slusser," and when one checks a phonebook in the Sharpsburg, Maryland, area, he finds at least 25 Scholssers listed; many of them are, of course, our distant cousins." |
